FAVORITE CHARITIES & EVENTS
There are plenty of great causes, fun events, and ways to improve oneself in Nashville.  Below are some of my favorites...

Prevent Blindness Tennessee - A voluntary eye health organization dedicated to preventing blindness and preserving sight across the state of Tennessee through vision screenings, public and professional education, community services, programs, referrals, information, and research.

Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee - Educating people across Tennessee about the impact of eating disorders on the lives of individuals and their families.

Special Olympics of Tennessee - Providing Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.  A great opportunity to volunteer and work with people who always smile!

Bridgestone Babblers - A Nashville-based Toastmasters International group Flint participates in.  Practice public speaking and have fun doing it!

Country Music Marathon - A yearly Nashville marathon.  I've run the half-marathon twice now!

l’Ete du Vin - America's oldest charity wine auction.  You'll find me volunteer-pouring at these events.

A Vintage Affair - Nonprofit wine auction benefiting women and children.  Great wine auctions here, too.

The Bacchanalian Society of Nashville - Hosts competitive wine-tasting events.  Excellent opportunity to develop your taste-buds.

Iroquois Steeplechase - A Nashville tradition: the yearly spectacle of horses, hats, and hounds.  Great people watching!

FAVORITE NASHVILLE SPOTS
Nashville offers a ton of neat places to meet up with friends, take a date, or simply lounge.  Below are some of my favorites...

Improv Nashville - The group is on a hiatus as I'm writing this.  Hopefully they come back -- good laughs in an intimate setting.

MafiaOza's - Anyone who knows me knows I love pizza.  The place is always packed, but it's a lot of fun.

Rumors Wine Bar - Whether you're at the 12th Avenue south, or East Nashville location, you'll have a good time!

Virago Sushi - Sushi is a close second favorite food.  Half-off sushi Mondays reign supreme!

Bluebird Cafe - Sit down and enjoy music from Nashville's up-and-coming songwriters.  Just remember -- shhhh!

Arrington Vineyards - I'm not a big fan of most Tennessee wines, but this place has a decent selection.  Your best bet: head here on a Friday night during the summer, uncork a bottle and listen to the live music on the lawn.

Corner Pub Midtown - Bar food.  'Nuff said.

Parthenon - Located at Centennial Park, it's a full-scale replica of the Athenian original.  The park is a great place to throw a football or just jog, too!

Greenways - Nashville has some beautiful greenways for joggers/walkers.

Natchez Trace Parkway - My favorite place to hop in the car and just go for a drive.

Nashville Sounds - The AAA minor league affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers.  It's all about Thirsty Thursdays...

Tennessee Titans - I'm usually working when they play, but it's a good team and fun atmosphere... and though I'm an Atlanta Falcons fan first and foremost, I'm willing to offer AFC allegiance to them because there's no conflict of interest. :-)

Nashville Predators - I was never a hockey fan.  Wait, I'm still not.  But you can still have fun at the game!

YMCA - Come sweat a little... and maybe run into someone you know.
